Wacker and other (electric) concrete finishing machines used to use 400 Hz for 
their power source, as it made it easier to design the motors for the frequency 
of vibration they required, I believe.  We used to make these when I was at 
Kohler.  It was a hoot when we would get calls from end users who bought one of 
the generators at a local equipment auction when rental places got liquidated.  
They were 120/240VAC, but 400 Hz.  The new owners would want to know what they 
could do to lower the frequency on the machines so they would run stuff without 
destroying it.

Pretty much the only thing they could run were incandescent lamps and resistive 
heaters….
