Well heres phase 1: http://i843.photobucket.com/albums/zz353/curtludwig/Snowmobiles/IMG_20170102_122357245_HDR_zpsigek5rfv.jpg Thats 1/4" hardware cloth, I wish I had some 1/8"but whatever, it shouldn't hurt airflow too much and will hopefully keep the mice out a little.I always put mothballs in yogurt cups in the footwells for the summer, I think this machine only had one so I'll double that up. I'm also going to put out a little decon to lower the population. They have a new system where the bait is in blocks so the mice don't just hide the pellets all over the place. I got the gas tank back in today and spent two frickin hours cleaning the carbs, they were really filthy, probably the worst I've ever seen. I've been going back and forth, spray one and let it soak while I scrub the other one... Turns out the seat bottom is junk, took a trip to the lumber yard this morning for a new piece of plywood, I'll work on that once I get it running again. -Curt From: Dwight Giles <dwight.gi...@gmail.com> To: Mercedes Discussion List <mercedes@okiebenz.com>; Curt Raymond <curtlud...@yahoo.com> Sent: Sunday, January 1, 2017 11:17 PM Subject: Re: [MBZ] New year? So what are the new mouse protection protocols? Resident cat in garage? Smear, diesel fuel around carbs? It would pop but wouldn't stay running so I figured a quick carb cleaning was in order. It has dual carbs which is double the fun but they're relatively easy to pull. Sadly I found evidence of mouse activity in the carbs which both had plugged pilot jets which explains why it wouldn't run. So the air box has to come out. This is a very common snowmobile repair but some idjit designed the air box so the gas tank has to come out first. To get the gas tank out the seat has to come off. Of course the seat bottom is rotten and I broke the bolts...Finally got the air box out and cleaned and back in.Seat is in the basement by the fire drying out. I noticed the plastic gas tank filler neck was a little torn so I cleaned that up and gooped some three bond on it, sadly I don't think shoe goo is gasoline safe... Tomorrow I'll get new bolts for the seat, clean the carbs and get it all back together. New mouse prevention protocols go into effect this spring...
