One advantage of the original design with 8 lil (now) engines in place of 2 or 4 biguns. Loose 1/2 power, you have a problem. Loose 1/4 power, you may or may not have a problem.

No real problem at all flying B-52, especially an H model, with six or seven engines. Somebody said that it had to "glide" to a landing after losing the engine. I doubt there was much gliding involved. Why glide with 6 or 7 good engines still capable of producing 17 klbs thrust each?
