I turned up the boost a little, now I've got 9.5 psi.

Guess what? It runs better now! Dark and stormy here, so I can't report
on the smoke or lack thereof.

What a royal pain to adjust the waste-gate (Garrett) on these cars! I
turned the rod 1.5 turns tighter, which I had understood should have bumped
the boost by 4.5 psi (3 psi per turn). No more time to play with it
tonight, later I'll try tightening up another turn.

I'd much rather get all the other adjustable things and correctable things
taken care of before I swap injection pumps. I'd like to get the boost
above 12 psi, and back off the ALDA a bit, and install the correct glow
plugs. If the car still runs unacceptably, I'll consider swapping in the
correct IP.
