Amperage not a great idea, because most electronics power supplies, especially the small ones, have a poor power factor. Billable watts, in AC, is _not_ just V times A, you also have to multiply in the 0-1 power factor.
Simplest possible thing to do is use the Kill-A-Watt, which is cheap and handles the power factor calculations for you. (By integrating the instantaneous VA product over the cycles of power.) It also will sum up Watt-hours, so you can calculate the effect on your power bill. Plug your refrigerator into it for a week, and see what that appliance really costs you, for example. Highly recommended.
