Should you not freeze it rather than heat it in order to enlarge the hole?

Re: [MBZ] OT non-Mercedes repair
I had to replace the power steering pump on my 96 Chebby truck. Was
driving, backing out of a parking space in a shopping center, WHAM I
heard/felt something then no boost.  BAH.  Finally got it off, undid the
serpentine belt then pulled on the PSP pulley and the whole pulley and
shaft come out of the thing.  Shaft had sheared off inside the pump
somewhere somehow.  WTF?  I took the pulley to a shop to press the shaft
out, it was a real tight fit, there is some sort of special puller to
get it off but of course no one has it.

So anyway I got the new one on but now getting the pulley back on the
shaft is a pain, I think maybe it might be possible to put a bolt in the
shaft (there is a hole in front, I'm thinking it is threaded in there)
but then there is the issue of how to keep it from turning..  I put the
pulley in the toaster oven and got it up to 450 thinking it might slide
over hot but no.  So now I gotta figure that one out.

Did I mention it took like 6 different wrenches and sizes to get the old
one off?  On a Benz it would be at most, what, 2 wrenches or sizes?  I
hate merkin vehicles...
