The Shell synthetic (and MOST other major brand "synthetics" sold in the
US) is relatively inexpensive hydrocracked group III oil, and while
better than conventional group I or II oil, it's FAR, FAR inferior to
the group IV/V blend in Mobil 1. Don't try for extended change intervals
with a group III oil without a LOT of testing - most won't deliver.
