I don't know what's wrong transmissions with some regions of the country, but 722.3 series transmissions in Pittsburgh usually to give 250+kmi of service. More if the car is primarily highway driven. You can wreck them sooner if you work at it, and they MAY start to leak (but still shift fine as long as you kept them topped up) after 15-20 years of service irrespective of mileage.
