So I find myself leaving the hospital last night and not able to get into the 300D/2.5 Turbo because I left the keys on the center console while I manually pushed the buttons because the locking system isn't locking properly.
I called USAA's towing service about 2000 and found I had two choices: - Tow the car to a dealership, or - Have it towed home for $148.80 (they only tow 13 miles and home is 45 miles away) They couldn't send out a locksmith to make a key because no one would come out on a Sunday evening. So I called a friend who loaned me a Honda Civic (a nice little car, BTW) and drove home, getting there about midnight. Today, I am back at the hospital in Albuquerque, having given the Honda back to the friend. I did bring the extra key I got from Kaleb, but that apparently is for the ignition lock (which has a shop cylinder) and not for the door. Fiddle as I would, I could not get a door cylinder or the trunk lock to turn. I called USAA again today, expecting more options. Today, they are: - Tow the car to a dealership, - Have it towed home for $148.80, or, - Have an independent locksmith come out, do something with a mold, and have a new key in three business days for $700. Any ideas?
