while pushing hard on accelerator, everything works smooth and goes up thru the gears...but as i coast in town, sometimes it shifts down with a bit of a bump or thump...and likewise if i add pressure on the accelerator a bit...seems not as smooth as it should be...
The vacuum control valve on the IP may be bad, misconnected, or misadjusted. Ours was. If you unhook the line to the tranny and shifts get hard, and hook the line to straight vacuum and they get soft then the tranny itself is OK.
