I hope you have a reasonably good respirator. Modern paints have stuff in them that isn't good for you ( the old paints did too I guess but different stuff).
I do the plastic thing too but it seems to get out of that if one is not real careful. I sprayed a door for the house a few years back and ended up with a whole lot of cream colored paint dust settled on a bunch of stuff. Not really critical and some of it could be cleaned up. For example the red top on my parts washer tank could use some rubbing compound to clean it up if I was inclined to worry about it. Usually have enough stuff piled on top of it that I can't see it and don't think about it. Everytime I dig it out so I can use it, I think about doing it. Should, just to see if it will clean up well.
