>‎My points are:

Many and varied. And you've got some good ones.

My point is‎ if I buy a tool that costs X amount of dollars, and it saves y
amount of time, ‎equal to or greater than the dollar value of time savings, I
am ahead. Not to mention grief, busted knuckles, and wrenches and other things
hurled across the shop (when I was a younger man), and a general mean and
pissed off disposition.
Not to mention the savings of doing it myself instead of paying someone more
than my hourly wage to do the work. If the tool costs X and I saved X plus
because I did the work myself (and enjoyed myself working) I am ahead for
having purchased the tool. ‎The next time I use it, it is paying me a dividend.
I like innovating things as much as the next guy. I have fixed things for a
living for many years (decades) (I feel old now). But time can only be spent.
It cannot be accumulated like tools or money. ‎When my time runs out, I want to
say it was well spent, doing things I enjoyed, with people I love(d).

Perhaps we need to buy a couple W210's like Dan and others, and stop working on
these scrappers and start driving them...
