So I talked to the guy with the 124 CAB today.  It is at the body shop and the initial estimate was $1800 to fix it.  I guess they got into it further and the estimate has climbed to $6k.  The insurance company says the only comparable they can find place it at a $9k value.  So the guy is not sure what all is going to happen yet but it sounds like he will be getting a check for the car and wanted to know if I was interested in it. I told him I was.  He is interested in the 240D.  So anyway, I figured a couple of things will happen.  It ends up being too much and they total it, then he can find out what the buy back amount is.  Or they just give him a check for whatever it would have cost to fix it. He says he paid about $3500 for it so he hit the jack pot.

Anyway on to the car.  So he says the part under the trunk is pushed in about an inch and the trunk will not close.  He says the top is leaking fluid from near the right rear wheel area, so it needs new cylinders.  He says it will need a new top at some point as it is starting to fray.  He talks like the leather seat covers have rips.  I still have not seen the car yet but I am trying to figure out given the latest info how it would be worth to mess with it.  I am thinking maybe $1200 depending on how bad it looks.  If he does want the 240D I am going to try to get his car plus some cash.
