Again quoting from that earlier posted "virtual president" article:
...studies show that firearms prevent anywhere from 800,000 to
over two million violent crimes every year.
It goes on to say that guns prevent 100 times more violent crimes
than deaths caused by guns.
That could be stated as a 1% risk.
