I drove a 67 Skylark with a small V8 and 2spd. I really liked that car,
it had a nice style to it (buttress rear window), was a turquoise sort
of blue with black interior. I don't recall anything about gas mileage,
gas was too cheap to bother with that concern.

Tough - often used in drag cars etc. but pretty outdated by today's
standards and I believe contributed to poor fuel economy of those old
cars.
I had never heard it referred to as a dual range transmission. Sounds
sort of like a fancy description for something pretty mundane.
