When I was traveling for business on domestic trips I tried to stick with 
Holiday Inn.  The Express places were always pretty nice and Holiday Inn also 
had some spiffs with the airlines that would net you bonus points.  Marriott 
and Hilton always cost more, so they were never an option unless it was a big 
city, like Boston or DC.

Thankfully, I don’t have to worry about such things these days.  I enjoy 
sleeping in the same bed every night.
