Not just the electronic toy versions of MB that a battery can screw up! I spent a lot of time and $$$ on the R107 diagnosing a fuel problem. After I replaced fuel filter, fuel pump and fuel pump relay, and it still did not run right, the battery failed. The new battery cured all ills. BTW, the battery tested OK, but I was not able to load test it. A load test may have shown it was bad sooner.

I examined the carfax I got from Kleb and determined that the MB battery was 9
years old. I guessed that it could be causing problems with the electronics
because of a slightly low voltage, and I don't try to stretch battery life past
5 or 6 years, so replaced it, even though it cranked and started up just fine.
I may have read somewhere that MB computer electronics are very sensitive to
voltage levels. That solved the error code problem. So, a lucky guess?
