Many years ago, before even thinking about taking anything apart, we would squirt Eveready Oil, and later WD-40, in the lock and exercise it many times. We would do this several times and then try the key. If no luck, we would squirt 3 in 1 oil in the lock, repeat the above procedure, and try the key. If still no luck, we would go to a good locksmith and get him to cut a new key just a little bit "full" (wider). That usually worked. Gerry
