Not sure if I mentioned this, so if I did please excuse me and delete. I am now full-bore back into a search for a Ponton, W110/W111/W108.
W110/W111, gas/diesel, auto/manual. If I had the perfect car it would be a 230S (67/68) with AC, but second choice would be any model year W110/W111 diesel with a stick, ideally a floor shifter. W108 6 cylinder sedan, manual or auto, AC would make it perfect but I can add it later on, so lack of it is not a deal killer. Late model Ponton, 180, 190, 220, etc. Six cylinder preferred, not required. No restoration candidates, that is, if it needs bodywork due to rust, I’m not interested. I could deal with a minor bubble here or there, or tired paint that needs to be buffed out, but no rusty rockers, fenders or door bottoms. I can do anything but bodywork, so that takes potential candidates right out of the running if they need paint or rust repair. I can do pretty much anything else, so if a candidate has needs in the interior or mechanical areas I would consider it. No major repairs, that is, I'm not looking to rebuild an engine for example. I don't want a project car. I am looking for a driver quality or better car. I'm not expecting perfection, but I’m willing to spend up in the $10k range, so that weeds out a lot of potential cars if they have anything significant in the way of needs. I'll travel anywhere in the CONUS as long as I can find someone trusted to vet the car prior to purchase.
