Then there were the times I put a propane torch under the oelpan for an hour or so to heat the oil and block. (Don't do this with an aluminum alloy lower oilpan !!!!! ) and the times I put a propane torch between cyl 2 and 3, pointed at the head, for a half hour to an hour to warm the IP, lines and head... (Don't do this with an aluminum alloy head!!!!! )

Then there are the fuel heaters rigged up in various ways for iron head engines....

And the very critical HOW TOs for getting the right Diesel fuel for the temps you will encounter before the next fueling.

And the HOW TOs for what to do when you are caught with gelled fuel...

Richard Sexton <https://www.facebook.com/rs79.vrx.net?fref=ufi> "Myth: You should cycle the key several times to power the glow plugs longer before starting in the cold."

That's to make the cylinders s warm as you can get them. Jaime lives in balmy New Joisy and has never spent a winter in the Canadian Neo Arctic where 0 weigh oil and multiple key cycles are what work. Don't try without either of these and consider a block heater.

Good article otherwise.
