Ahh. And there are definite corollaries between Volvo owners and Saab
owners. We all just like well-made, intelligently-designed autos.

Glad I saw this thread. I've been wondering, as I put my 240D through its
paces, which is a more important element of the Italian Tune-up: the RPMs or
the acceleration? I've been following the advice of the list and driving my
new (used) engine in banshee-like fashion.

Incidently, I must say that the thing is quite peppy (better than with the
old, ill-fated mill - I'd never experienced an engine that was unable to get
the vehicle moving from a stop - granted with low tires and on dirt and in a
slight rut). Now, with new engine, aside from a bit of lag just after the
clutch is let out, the thing accelerates very satisfactorily - even
satisfying most would-be tailgaters. In fact I wind up zipping around much
faster than I do in the Saab (in which I try to save gas by taking it easy).
