There can be other factors: Bragging rights; "Screw you and your weird overpriced bearings;" Immediacy, you can be back on the road _today_, as the 12mm bearings are in-stock in town; Consuming more of your 'free' time keeps you off of eBay; Ditto, but keeps you from attending that icky event that your spouse has roped you into...
