Sunil, You are correct. If you buy one that still has straight rods and round cylinders, you can replace the rods with the new style, and the engine should last as long as any MB diesel powerplant. The W140 has lots of fancy gadgets that are expensive to fix when the act up, though. It's a very nice car but not for the faint of wallet.
