I meant to write about this the other day. Back when we still had the 1996
Dodge Dakota the transmission got stuck in 1st gear. Angie had to drive it
about 5 miles like that.
As is so common it did it about 2 days before Christmas and this was right
after we had bought our house and had no money.
I put about half a quart of the Lucas stuff in, its like really thick ATF. I
drove it around for a little while with that in it and if I shifted from D to N
and back to D it'd shift into second. After a couple more miles it'd get third.
Getting 4th reliably took maybe 20 miles. Within 100 miles it was completely
back to normal. I drove it probably another 100 miles and had the fluid and
filter changed to M1 ATF.
We drove it something like 70,000 more miles before the truck was so rusty it
wasn't worth keeping. Had 222,000 miles at that point.
I'm pretty sold on the stuff...

Does anyone have part numbers for the front pump seal (Per Dan) and the
oring seal for the secondary pump on the side?

Re: MG message:   I know some of the brands of transmission fixit juice
are good.   I put some in the 124 300D, which could drop 1-2 qt
overnite.  Since then, the trans has been perfect for another 170k and
counting.   If the seals are softened a bit, they seal.  (unless they
are really worn out)
