I thought I had it blocked several times, but it kept coming back. Finally, I used Firefox about:config, searched for and deleted every instance of recaptcha.net, and I'm no longer getting max speed upload calls to compute.amazonaws.com
So it was indeed ReCaptcha which acted like it was trying to upload the contents of my hard drive. If this were Banned List, I'd have the words to describe how I feel about that.
