The 300D would not start tuesday,  nothing wrong but the wire to the starter.  Neither the key switch (new in 2011) or the aux switch (i didn't put in) would start the car in time for #1 daughter to get to a class she teaches.   Both switches rely on the same wire to the starter.

I told her to bring it here when it did start.  I sent her home with the 91 300D 2.5 without any shakedown other than the trip to the alignment shop.   Before she got home, the master cyl let go.  After I put in another new key switch, replaces the aux switch, ran a new wire from it to the starter and put in a new aux switch under the hood, I told her to bring back the 91 and get the 87.   On the way here, the 2.5 was running hot.

I had filled antifreeze before she took it.   Larry had replaced the tstat a couple years and not many miles before.  I'm thinking fan clutch or aux fan.

what is the best way to test the aux fan switch?   I should get out the IR thermometer too.
