It is generally accepted that an engine is easier to start on petrol than gas, also petrol tends to protect the valves when they are cold. This is not so much a problem on engines specifically designed and build to run on LPG (Ford and Mitsubishi in Oz make dedicated LPG vehicles that do not have petrol tanks). Almost all Aussie Taxis (and most couriers) run on LPG and do get a good run out of it because their engines do not get stone cold, however the morning and evening commute crowd do tend to have problems if they do not switch between LPG and petrol.

Ah - but you gain access to alternative fuels - if there is no gas in
town, you can still run on LPG. Kind of like having a Diesel, because
you know that you can run on veggie oil if you have to.

I don't understand the switching back to gasoline before shutting it
down, and having to start of gasoline though ---
