What does Dan mean about "burning a couple of heaters"?

The 1983 the W123 300TD has high mileage (368k) but everything works,
except for a spotty tachometer. Recently installed ball joints and new
tires, etc. so it literally can drive anywhere. Not sure how best to
market it.

Keep it. You will need it. The new one will not be nearly as reliable
and will spend most of its time at the shop where it will only cost you
a few hundred dollars per hour for "factory trained technicians" to
scratch their heads and wonder how they might fix it while installing as
many expensive parts as possible. You can drive the old one when you go
to the bank to arrange the financing to cover the cost of repairing the
new one.

RB who is not very optimistic about the new Mercedes vehicles
