That is strange, I have never had any issues clearing codes with DAS.
Maybe 99 is some strange year between DAS and HHT. I think all modules
on any 163 I have worked on have been accessed with DAS, but 01 and up
is the only ML I have worked on.

You need Xentry to clear tranny codes, not sure if car soft will do it. In any
case were the codes related to conductor plate? You probably would not know
that for sure either without Xentry.

it but clearly not, the fluid I drained out looked like old diesel oil. So I
finished the job today, new CP, filter, fluid, etc. drained the torque
converter too.
I put the little iCarsoft scanner on it and cleared all the solenoids codes.
Drove it, still stuck in 2nd. Hmmmm. I’m wondering now if this scanner thing
does not actually reset the nanny. When I did this job on the 99 E320 I used
the Star computer and it got the nanny reset. I’m gonna try the computer and
see what’s up on that box.
I have a TCM in the wrecked E300, same 722.6 tranny, I can try that if It is
still acting up
