I ended up paying him $4500 for it, a pity purchase. (I did NOT want it.) I tried to sell it, with no time pressure (unlike PO), with no luck. My dad finally bought it, for what I'd paid. He loved it, and I was glad to be rid of it.
After he passed, nobody wanted to inherit it. I ended up gifting it to our honorary sister.
