In that particular situation I think it’s more a matter that colon cancer is very slow to progress and not something who’s symptoms are noticed until it’s at an advanced stage. Considering that there’s a 10 year span between recommended checks I don’t see it being a major expense for the population as a whole (no pun intended, of course!)
