I simply don’t get it. Either I’m wildly out of touch, or the segment of the population that frequents Facebook are absolute retards.
As you know, I’ve got my 1995 E420 for sale. I listed it on CL as well as FB. I’ve gotten the usual virtual tire-kickers and scammers on CL, a couple of serious lookers. Nothing unusual (for Craigslist) there. I constantly get people on Facebook who message me asking “What’s the lowest you’ll sell it for?” They’ve never seen the car. Now I know there is an occasional low baller on CL, but this appears to be the norm for FB. I’ve responded any number of ways to these people, such as, “Really? You’re making an offer on a car you've never seen before?” They seem totally nonplussed by this. I tell them if they’re interested and want to buy the car then I’ll negotiate with them in person. I had one today that wanted to know if I would sell for $3500. I told them, “Sure. Be here within the hour with the cash in hand and it’s yours.” Crickets.
