From the disclaimers page: "PMC is not a publisher and does not publish
journal articles itself. Once a journal as a whole has been accepted for
inclusion in PMC, NLM does not judge the quality of individual articles and
relies on the scientific publishing process to identify and address problems
through published comments, corrections, and retractions."
So they're publishing it but not condoning the data or actually saying its any
good. This is not a "study from our government"Its not even a study, its a
meta-meta analysis...

And finally here is a study from our government, the NIH, which concludes:
"The existing scientific evidences challenge the safety and efficacy of
wearing facemask as preventive intervention for COVID-19. The data suggest
that both medical and non-medical facemasks are ineffective to block
human-to-human transmission of viral and infectious disease such SARS-CoV-2
and COVID-19, supporting against the usage of facemasks. Wearing facemasks
has been demonstrated to have substantial adverse physiological and
psychological effects. These include hypoxia, hypercapnia, shortness of
breath, increased acidity and toxicity, activation of fear and stress
response, rise in stress hormones, immunosuppression, fatigue, headaches,
decline in cognitive performance, predisposition for viral and infectious
illnesses, chronic stress, anxiety and depression. Long-term consequences
of wearing facemask can cause health deterioration, developing and
progression of chronic diseases and premature death. "
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7680614/ Stop kidding yourself
if you "Follow the Science!!" and still think that wearing a face mask in
response to this epidemic is a good idea.
