Trans shifting poorly and not holding gear but no lethal codes. I’m hoping it
just needs a fluid change. 722.9 no way to check it without a drain —
“lifetime” fluid. I guess it’ll be a $250 gamble on that.
PS pump shot so steering is hard, brakes mushy (does not appear to have SBC?).
I guess new fluid and bleeding. Had surprisingly few codes, I cleared them all
and only the one “implausible” trans code came back.
Turns out the guy is from Boston, grew up a mile or two from my first house
there, he knew exactly where it is. Really nice guy. He was asking $2k and
turned down some low-end buyers as he didn’t want to sell them a problem. I was
the perfect sucke... err, buyer as I knew what was going on, more or less.
Settled on $1200 after he said he’d take 15, he might have taken less... He
bought it for $2700 when he needed a ride, drove it for the last few months
when it started acting up, got a new job and company car so unloading it now
for whatever he could get without screwing someone over. Decent.
I guess I’m becoming a 722.9 “expert” now...
