Buying market share until you're a quasi-monopoly (like Verizon and ATT) can be a viable strategy for profit, and a near guaranteed strategy for "I'm running a bigger company and therefore need a bigger paycheck".
Ditching employees is the way to raise your next quarterly bonus, until the customers get dissatisfied and quit too.
But relocating a facility in order to raise costs and get rid of hard earned talent, that's just stupid.
