Could you not repair the cookstove? My recollection is that the back is usually just sheet metal and if so, you should be able to rebuild it. The cast iron top and the castings on the front are what make it a nice stove.

Our new house up north has a chimney in the kitchen/diningroom which is 
connected to an old cook stove that's all worn out, you can see the back wall 
right through the firebox. The chimney is covered like Dimitri's but in really 
nice shape so I'm going to uncover it and hopefully find a small cook stove as 
a replacement. Same thing in the parlor/living room, its got what must have 
been a nice stove in the '80s but looks really dated and out of place now. I'm 
on the lookout for either a Jotul 602 or an antique parlor stove. The Jotul 
looks right-ish and will be way more efficient...
