Do you think there is any chance that the engine is sucking oil or trans
fluid etc in somehow and running without the normal fuel feed and
parking it nose up removes the source of fuel? Sort of a run away diesel
but at idle speed?

Talked to someone on the net this morning who has a 1980 W123 300CD that does
not want to shut off. Neither the vacuum shutdown nor the emergency shutoff
under the hood would stop the engine. They discovered that if they parked it on
an incline with the nose up, it would stop.
My question is solely in regard to the nose up issue. Why would that cause the
engine to stop?
