That's not the point. The unregulated charger will cause premature battery death if used constantly. A real Battery Minder is regulated by charge phase plus desulfating. Battery Tender is good for continuous charge/maintenance. I keep one connected to my standby generator start battery at all times, as well as off-season things like mower and tractor. It is definitely better than the built-in Generac charger.
