Several years ago, maybe 2016, we had a really cold snap in December or January and apparently they hadn't been treating the diesel as well as they should. Everybody I know was having trouble with gelled fuel. Fortunately I had a half gallon of power service in the grooming machine so I snagged that for our cars. My Jetta had it really bad, it took a long time to clear up. Angie's Golf was effected but cleared up with just a few ounces of juice.
Very quickly there was no anti-gel to be had in the state. A buddy was trucking to New Jersey for something so we got him to bring back a case of Power Service for the snowmobile club. Since then I've always kept a quart on hand... That reminds me, I need to treat the Tucker. I had terrible trouble with water in the fuel on that machine last year. It hasn't been cold enough yet to tell if this year will be a repeat. -Curt On Thursday, December 22, 2022 at 01:15:04 PM EST, Allan Streib via Mercedes <mercedes@okiebenz.com> wrote: Diesel is winterized at the distributor starting in about October I think. I don't know how cold it's good for but I've never had gelling with recently-purchased fuel at similar temps. Cars aren't affected by wind chill. Real ambient temp is what matters.
