This is just a discussion post of some observations about mowers I have noticed lately.

Kohler vs B&S.  I was always under the impression that Kohler engines were better and more heavy duty that B&S engines.  I am not sure if this is the case or not, or if it depends on the model. For example, this John Deere made Scott mower I have has a Kohler Command (IIRC) engine which I believe is sort of a higher end engine than the Courage models.  This is the current model of Husqvarna I looked at today at Lowes:

I did not buy it because my neighbor gave me this Scott mower I am currently using because it was burning a ton of oil.  I replaced the head gaskets and it has been fine since.  Have used it for several years now and it currently has about 340 hours on it I believe.
