I remember the discussion of how great the Rigid warranty was a few years ago
when I was looking at tools.

I've been very happy with my Makita tools, no battery issues yet but I think
I've only had them (checks blog) 2 years. Time will tell.

I bought a pair of power tools and batteries a coupla years ago from Home Depot
mostly because the batteries had lifetime warranties. One battery went bad
recently so I need to get a replacement. I had registered them back when. I was
surprised they have both lasted this long. The tools have actually been great
through a lot of use.

Went to the website and signed in, there it all was, all the tools and
batteries. There’s a link to a page to do a replacement that doesn’t work.
There’s a chat link that replies they’re too busy. There’s a help number that i
waited about 30min no response. There’s another number for replacement
batteries that basically gets you in the same queue as the other number so I
tried that and bailed after another 30min of “heavier than usual call volume.”.
There’s a text message number same as the phone number that connects to a bot
that wants an order number and understands nothing else.

So no way to actually get a replacement. Great scam. HD want no part of dealing
with it, they tell you to go through ridgid.
