Only 5 liters of ATF? Can that be correct, or are they assuming you’re not
draining the torque converter? Has to be…

Yes that’s a different one. Here’s the correct one:

$200 dealer part?

FCP Euro wants $950. Or is this something different?

I’m the meantime I have replaced many of them, 2 just in the last
month. Once little secret I will give. Don’t buy the $200 dealer part,
as far as I can tell and have researched the $60 kit all over eBay is
the exact same part. I have used many of these and never had a problem.
I don’t use the filter, connector plug etc that comes in the kit though.

I’ve been corresponding with AZBob on this, although I have little to no
experience with swapping out conductor plates, I gave him the lowdown on what
to expect when he scans the car for the first time. A lot of cruft, most
likely, which after running a report to capture everything he should clear all
codes, then drive the car for a few days at least if it doesn’t goof up. At
that point call it an anomaly, hitting the shifter to the “manual” side, or
heat, who knows? Or, if things really are going south or potentially borked,
the scan he’ll do in a few days after clearing out the cruft will reveal what’s
going on in the present.

I’m no proponent of cheap Chinesium scanners, but for the $150 or so that one
costs, the amount of information you can get from it even if you’re not
planning on doing the work yourself, is invaluable. I especially like the one I
recommended to AZBob, as it has a built-in feature that allows you to email a
copy of the scan results with codes and links to OBDII resources if it’s an
OBDII code. I know Floyd had one that borked, but mine has held up just fine
with limited use.

This suggests a failing CP given it might be temperature related. But check the
cable and connectors first before doing anything else.

I'm waiting on the scanner to arrive so I can validate the diagnosis before I

Or, order parts now and just do it because it will likely kack in the future?

Subject: Re: [MBZ] Limp Mode

Scan it and see if you have solenoid codes. Any codes would suggest inability
for TCM to talk to the conductor plate (I’m assuming 163?). The TCM is under
the steering wheel a bit to the left, you can pop off the connector and see if
there is any fluid that has wicked up. If not check the connector at the
transmission for fluid inside it. If those are dry it’s likely CP time which on
a 722.6 is not expensive but a bit of a bother to swap (not as much as 722.9).
Figure $200-250 for new CP and fluid and filter (which you should do anyway if
it’s been awhile). Plenty of utubers on how to do the job. Valvoline Maxlife
is a fluid you can use.

After going to the Diamondbacks game to watch another crushing defeat, I got

second gear. I initially noticed it was very sluggish taking off (like it was

dash.
Drove home taking surface streets. Ugh.

Now what?
