My German friend always pre-oiled through the oil pressure sender fitting as he had a separate oiling pump. Standard practice where he was taught.
Sure, if you've got the tool. I'd use it if I had it, but there's normally no need. Either residual engine oil or assembly lube will do the trick, as appropriate. -- Jim
