To get an idea how screwed we are just think about how much is made of
plastic these days. Then think about the fact that almost all plastics are
petroleum based.
How much oil does it require to build a PC, or your kids toys?

fertilizers and pesticides which grow it?
With the produce sold in the average supermarket, ten calories of
petroleum are
consumed to produce and deliver one calorie of food.
This is only the issue of food. What other goods and services do we pay
for that
are fueled by petroleum? How much of the cost of everything you buy is
driven by
petroleum?
