I have an existing chimney that is on the outside of my house. It's footer

in our basement, but I am unsure of how I could hook it up to the existing
chimney.
My thought is to install a second chimney along side the original that goes
down underground far enough to tie into the basement, and then tie it into
the original a few feet above ground? The existing hole into our living room
would be sealed off.
My first worry would be whether the stove would still draw well. You
would be adding more distance, twists and heat loss to the smoke path.
How about a metal pipe coming up through the living room floor and T
'ing into the existing hole in the wall. That would give you a clean out
place and some extra heat in the living room from the pipe. The mess and
dust from the wood stays in the basement. Paint fake flames on the
pipe. Maybe a screen to set in front of it if small children are
about. You would be able to tell from your easy chair when to reload the
stove by how much the pipe is radiating at you.
