All you need is a stubby 17mm and a vice grips. I've done 3 of these. Use vice grips to get the old pump off, tighten the new primper pump down with the stubby
17mm wrench. Almost as easy as a prefilter replacement.

Yes...the 300D...the old one screws out, the nes one screws in. A wrench is
almost impossible to get in there...

Is this not the same as an 83' 300D? If so, I think you're asking for a
heck of a lot more work than speding the roughly $12 plus shipping for a
newer model primer pump that does not require unscrewing to use, that
simply
requires unscrewing the old and screwing in the new to replace...

Then again if you like monkeying around with stuff, this could be a good
opportunity! (:

I'm going to replace the primer pump guts since I think that is what's
leaking. I looked in the box containing the replacement guts I got from
someone (I think Luther) a long time ago. There is the cylinder in which
the
pump handle lives and then there is a small top hat shaped plastic deal
surrounded by a spring...a check valve looking thing I guess. Where does
that go? Is there a job number in the manual for this evolution?
