Does a 240D manual trans mate w/the 300D? If not, how difficult to

With a 617 engine, the 603 has the starter on the left side.
Or could the Jeep 4 speed trans be fitted to the MB

It would take some machining to make a plate to fit the Jeep tranny to
the back of any MB engine.
Chuck, you can do anything as long and you have the money, material and
the time.

Hi listers.......
My son has an idea he would like to find/install a 300D engine (maybe
even with a turbo) and a 4 speed manual trans in his Jeep Wrangler of
90's vintage..... The gasser four bagger is dying... and he's
got a few questions..

How much work to adapt a Jeep transfer case to the MB manual tranny?
What is the weight of the 300D engine & a manual tranny?
Does the manual tranny fit as a "bolt on" change? Or is there some
machine work necessary?
And here's the old man's question....
Is this a sensible (with some allowance for the "I just wanna do it"
factor).???? He does like to do "stuff", just so he can get the
satisfaction of doing it! And, oh... He is in Hawaii...
TIA,
Chuck.........
