Larry,
Answers follow........... What section are you in?? If I go thru
your neck of the woods, will definitely let you know. Even if I'm
not elected, next May I'll be driving to the DC area for StarTech in
May from Phoenix.......
Take care,

Hi Chuck,
Glad to hear the F Barrett era is ending. A couple of
questions. Will
the club continue to pay for the mailing costs or will the new
publisher do
so?
I am not familiar with the terms of the new contract, but have been
assured that it will be a positive cash flow to the club.
Also, will the club keep the advertising revenue instead of the
publisher as in years past?
Yes. Basic answer and I'm not aware of the details since I'm still
just a vanilla member despite being a candidate for DAL... I would
hope that in the future the financial statements in the Star Magazine
will be a good deal more definitive........
These funds would help the club dramatically
and allow the central office to help the sections fund special
events like
social & competitive drives, dinners, meets, concours, etc. all of
which the
rank and file greatly enjoy IMHO.
Given a positive cash impact of the revenue from the Star, I want to
see some of the Raffle profit directed to Section support.
Also, it'd be nice to see The Star as a
monthly or perhaps 8 X's per year instead of every other month.
For the forseeable future, the Star will remain 6x a year. But, it
is a goal of mine and I believe many others to get to a monthly
magazine.
For many
members, The Star is the biggest connection to the club and more
issues
would provide a more cohesive feeling -
And last, but not least, the membership needs to grow through a
coordinated effort of all members, dealers, indys and wider
publication of why it's a good idea to join MBCA!
Thanks for being handy to answer questions -

Gary,
I joined MBCA in 1989 and have stuck with the club in various
sections in various positions.. I am a candidate for a Director at
Large position in this year's election. Results will be known next
Tuesday/Wednesday.
I do agree with you about the state of the club in years past. It
has improved greatly in the last four years and will continue to do
so. There was a recent RFP distributed to evaluate/select a new
editor for the Star Magazine. The current editor will produce the
last issue in Jan/Feb 2007. A NEW editor will take over with the
March/April issue. Entirely new organization, not related to the
"future" former editor. The club will regain editorial oversight.
During my tenure, if elected, I will make sure the club belongs to
the members and let their voices be heard. I hope to influence a
strong growth in membership. Anyone else interested in joining,
please email me offline.
Just came back from StarFest 2006 in Las Vegas. Over two hundred
members/spouses/friends attended where a concours and driving events
(Time Trials, Autocross, Acceleration Run) left a lot of smiles on
lots of faces. I was one smiling also with two firsts and one second
in the driving events in the 500E, Big Bro'.
Not to bore all the non-members but as info...... The fall MBCA
Board Meeting will be held in Phoenix, November 9-11....... Anyone
who wants info, send me an email offline.......
That's all......
Take care and be safe,
Chuck

eh, i joined mbca once and they called the FBI on me for suggesting
