Not just that it's less than it's worth, it's nearly 5 times less than what
it is worth and the buyer knows it. Make a fair offer and no one would be
insulted but 2K for a nearly 10K car is a bit low to me. Just my $.02
though.

See, I've heard that from other people too. I don't get it. If I'm
selling
something, people can offer whatever they want. That's what it's worth to
them. If I don't want to accept it that's fine. I certainly wouldn't
hold
it against them.
I've run into it lately where we're kind of looking for a house. We found
one we rather liked that was originally listed for some ungodly amount of
money. When we looked at it it was in the really high end of what we
might
be able to afford. So after thinking about it, we could probably offer a
price close to what they were asking if it were perfect for us. But it's
not. There's enough little things that would add significantly to the
cost,
so we could only offer some amount less than half of what they were
originally asking. But we never officially submitted that because we
might
offend them. Nothing personal, that's what we could afford to pay based
on
what we have and what we would need to do...
I just don't get the "I'm offended because you're offering less than what
I
think it's worth" thinking... Seems like if it's that important to you
you
shouldn't be selling it... (:

A $2000 offer for that car is nothing more than an insult. Frankly, If
someone lowballed me like that on a car I wouldn't sell it to them or
anyone
they call friend for twice the money.
