I knew that there were gear-reduction starters made that could be fitted
onto cars like I used to play with (big V8 muscle). I always wanted to get
one and install it.

They sound like, and probably are, the type that you hear on more modern V8s
as found in pickups (make a "smaller" sound [as heard in newer Dodge
pickups] are more efficient, and - important to speed freaks and 240D
drivers - weigh less).

I'm once again tempted to get one, only now for my 240D. Hmmm.
